Art for me is a way of life. I have always been passionate about creating art, but only realized when I started studying it in college that it could be an actual future for me. I work in many mediums, though I have started to focus on printmaking and 3D sculpture work. I enjoy exploring different ways of showing texture within a piece and exploring themes of identity and purpose. When I am creating art is when I feel most alive. I am learning how to take my emotions and turn them into ideas and then turn those ideas into physical art. It is fascinating to me how we can experience so much emotion around something we look at and how art truly can change lives, and I hope to change lives with my art.
It is my last semester at HCC where I will get my AA in Art. My plans when I finish HCC are to go to Western Carolina University in North Carolina and get my B.F.A. in Studio Art. I will continue to study different methods of creating there and I hope to learn how to take my art to the next level and how to impact people through my work. I am nervous and excited to see where this chapter of my life takes me, but no matter what, I will never stop creating.
