Carlos Pons is a Guatemalan-born artist based in Tampa with more than 15 years of experience. His interest in art began in childhood, when drawing and sculpting with fabric and clay became a natural outlet for curiosity and expression.
In 2000, his family moved to the United States, a change that shaped much of his perspective. Before becoming a legal resident he spent part of his youth navigating the uncertainty of immigration status, an experience that continues to inform his understanding of identity, belonging, and faith. His studio practice explores these themes through dramatic landscapes, bold color, and figures that leave space for reflection rather than explanation.
Carlos currently lives and works in Ybor City, where his studio is based at Kress Contemporary. He continues to develop his personal studio work while also leading his business, Paz Art Creations LLC, founded in 2019. Through Paz Art Creations he produces large scale murals, residential and commercial commissions, and digital branding and marketing materials, balancing fine art with applied creative work across multiple mediums.
