The Gasparilla Festival of the Arts is honored to work with Emerging Artist Program selection juror Leslie Elsasser

Biography

Leslie Elsasser is Curator of Education and an Educator at USF Contemporary Art Museum where she develops and facilitates educational programs and events, and cultivates collaborations, and community partnerships.  Leveraging the museum’s collection, Leslie also teaches a course in USF Honor’s collage centered on the Warhol Foundation Photographic Legacy Project.

     Elsasser’s personal mission is to foster both contemporary artmaking and bring awareness to essential role of the arts across cultures and through history.  She has taught studio arts, design and non-western art history courses at Ringling College of Art and Design, University of Tampa and the University of South Florida.  Elsasser’s scholarly work concentrates on Indian Mughal Miniature Painting and she was the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship to India 2003, artist in residence at Sanskriti 2003 and 2005, and UCross in 2012.  Elsasser holds an MA in Fine Art from the University of South Florida, is a candidate for an MA in Art History from the University of South Florida and holds an undergraduate degree in Art and Design from Rhode Island School of Design.  Elsasser has the privilege of having been the recipient of the Gasparilla Emerging Artist Award in 2002.
