The Gasparilla Festival of the Arts is honored to work with Emerging Artist Program selection juror Katherine Pill. Katherine assisted the GFA’s board of directors and planning committee in selecting fifteen artists among more than 100 applicants for this program that continues to grow in popularity among budding artists near and far.

Biography

Katherine Pill is Curator of Contemporary Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, Florida. She organized the permanent collection exhibitions Color Acting: Abstraction since 1950 and Marks Made: Prints by American Women Artists from the 1960s to the Present, and most recently Shana Moulton: Journeys Out of the Body, the artist’s first solo museum exhibition in the United States. Pill previously held the position of Assistant Curator at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, Missouri. She earned a BA in Art History from McGill University in Montreal and a dual MA in Art History and Arts Administration from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. While in Chicago, she was administrative director of the Student Union Galleries and co-director of Concertina Gallery, which exhibited the work of emerging and mid-career artists from across North America. She recently juried the 8th All-Media Biennial at the Art and Culture Center/Hollywood.
